Job summary

New Hampshire Community Loan Fund in Concord, NH is seeking a Business Development Officer to advance regenerative agricultural supply chains across New England. You will build relationships with producers, lenders, and support organizations to shape regional lending and identify borrowers who can strengthen farming and food businesses.

The role requires strong communication, project coordination, and comfort with underwriting concepts; travel across New England is expected.

Qualifications

• At least five years of relevant professional experience in farming, food systems, lending, or related fields.
• Understanding of agriculture and food sectors in New England and related systems.
• Experience or coursework in evaluating credit risk is preferred.
• Experience reading and analyzing financial statements is preferred.
• Experience coordinating group processes or stakeholder events is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneNote).

Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships with producers, business owners, and others to develop lending opportunities.
• Respond to loan inquiries and assist prospective borrowers through the application process.
• Assist in underwriting and structure loan terms that meet needs and mission.
• Prepare written credit memos outlining strengths and risks.
• Manage borrower relationships with regular communication.
• Develop partnerships with New England agriculture and food system organizations.
• Track opportunities for leveraging capital in the region.
• Participate in regional initiatives and conferences to promote the Community Loan Fund.
• Assist in developing grant proposals to support program operations and loan capitalization.
