Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) seeks a Registered Pharmacy Technician to support medication reconciliation in the Emergency Department. Under a Pharmacist's supervision, you will help obtain and document BPMH for older adults and assist with dispensing workflows to ensure patient safety.

The role requires a Texas-registered Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and IV certification within three months, with fast-paced, high-volume experience preferred.

Qualifications

Summary

Job Summary

The Registered Pharmacy Technician Medication Reconciliation works under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and is responsible for obtaining, documenting and maintaining accurate best possible medication histories (BPMH) for older adult patients aged 65 years and older in the Emergency department. Assists the Pharmacist with the acquisition, preparation, checking and distribution of medication products and supplies to the Emergency Department (ED).

Work Experience

One year of previous work as a Pharmacy Technician is required. Experience in sterile compound preparation is preferred.

License/Registration/Certification

Current and active registration to work as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy is required.

IV certification is required to be completed within three months of being in the position, and be maintained annually at the responsibility of the department.

Education And Training

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Graduation from a Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.

Medication History certificate of completion by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) (or equivalent advanced credential) is required to be obtained within 1.5 years of being in the position will be ensured by the department.
