Ogden City Corporation is seeking a Refuse Operator in the Public Services department to operate refuse collection vehicles and related equipment, perform maintenance on trucks, and handle snow/ice control as needed. The role requires a valid CDL and the ability to respond to recalls for emergency operations.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, with benefits. Candidates should be prepared for outdoor work in varying conditions and potential 12-hour shifts during peak seasons.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or suitable combination of experience and education.
• Two years of general maintenance experience preferred for field tasks.
• Ability to operate refuse-related vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate refuse collection vehicles and pick up city refuse and recycling.
• Maintain and repair trucks and related equipment daily.
• Perform snow removal, ice control, and contingency operations when needed.
• Respond to public inquiries courteously and document maintenance reports.
• Be available for overtime hours and recall during emergencies.
• Direct traffic near work sites and ensure safety procedures are followed.
