Job summary

OGDEN CITY CORPORATION is seeking a Part-time Maintenance Worker to support the Refuse Division and Green Waste Facility in Ogden, Utah. The role involves manual labor, equipment operation, and customer service while ensuring safe, efficient daily operations.

Responsibilities include operating log splitters, woodchippers, and other equipment, performing inspections, handling cash at the point-of-sale, and adhering to OSHA and safety policies. Flexible weekend work is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of twelfth grade is preferred.
• Some knowledge of tools used in maintenance and solid waste operations and of precautions necessary to work safely around mechanized equipment.
• Ability to safely operate, or learn to operate, equipment and powered tools.
• Learn computerized point-of-sale and record-keeping systems; accurately handle and account for money; and carry out written and verbal instructions.
• Must provide strong customer service, communicate effectively, work independently and as part of a team, and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the public.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment used by the Refuse Division (log splitter, woodchipper, chainsaws, weed trimmers, etc.).
• Perform daily equipment inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Report equipment deficiencies and repair needs.
• Safely load, unload, and move green waste products.
• Provide courteous customer service and assist visitors with Green Waste Facility services.
