Job summary

The Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) seeks a compassionate Children & Youth Services Coordinator in New Haven, CT, with one day per week in Bridgeport. You will help refugee children and families navigate schools, enroll students, and connect them with tutoring and community resources.

This role emphasizes collaboration with schools and case managers, trauma-informed support, and program development to strengthen education access and youth outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with children, youth, and families.
• Ability to collaborate with schools, teachers, counselors, and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate programs helping refugee children and youth succeed academically and socially.
• Help newly arrived students enroll in school and transition to classrooms.
• Build partnerships with schools, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
• Support families navigating the U.S. education system.
• Coordinate educational workshops and family learning opportunities.
• Connect students with tutoring, enrichment, after-school programs, and community resources.
• Develop programming to prepare teens for college, trades, apprenticeships, and careers.
• Coordinate Refugee Summer Academy activities and day-to-day operations.
• Collaborate with case managers to provide trauma-informed support.
