Bachoco Group in Fort Smith, AR seeks a Refrigeration Technician to operate and maintain the ammonia refrigeration systems across our processing facilities. The role focuses on repairs, preventive maintenance, and ensuring plant temperatures meet safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include servicing spiral freezers, boilers, CO2 systems, and related equipment; diagnosing issues, replacing parts, and coordinating with HAZMAT entry requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications and boiler license.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains spiral freezers, air units, boilers, compressors, CO2 system, air pressure, chilled water, and plant temperatures.
• Toubleshoots inoperable or malfunctioning machinery to detect root cause.
• Dismantles inoperable or malfunctioning machinery, installs new or repaired parts and reassembles equipment.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts as part of Preventative Maintenance.
• Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
• Monitors facility temperatures and makes adjustments as necessary.
• Must attain and maintain required certification for the HAZMAT entry team.
• Must attain and maintain a boiler license and complete OSHA checks of internal boilers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary: Operates and maintains the ammonia refrigeration system:

• Repairs and maintains spiral freezers, air units, boilers, compressors, CO2 system, air pressure, chilled water, and plant temperatures.
• Troubleshoots inoperable or malfunctioning machinery and supporting equipment to detect root cause.
  • Listens for unusual sounds.
  • Feels for unusual vibration.
  • Communicates with users regarding what was observed or smelled.
• Dismantles inoperable or malfunctioning machinery and supporting equipment, installs new or repaired parts and reassembles the machinery or supporting equipment.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of the machinery and supporting equipment as part of the Preventative Maintenance Program
• Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
• Monitors facility temperatures and makes adjustments as necessary.
• Must be able to attain and maintain required certification for the HAZMAT entry team.
• Must be able to attain and maintain a boiler license and complete document OSHA checks of internal boilers.
• Other duties as assigned.
