The Albertville Plant I is seeking a Refrigeration Technician for the 3rd shift (11:00p–6:00a) to operate and maintain the ammonia refrigeration system and related equipment. The role requires troubleshooting skills, preventative maintenance, and adherence to safety standards including HAZMAT and boiler licensing.

Qualifications

• Operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with refrigeration equipment to identify root causes.
• Perform preventative maintenance on boilers, compressors, CO2 systems and related components.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations including HAZMAT and boiler licensing.
• Keep accurate documentation and complete OSHA checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the ammonia refrigeration system in Albertville plant.
• Repair and maintain spiral freezers, air units, boilers, compressors, CO2 system, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery, identify root causes, and communicate observations.
• Dismantle and replace parts, reassemble machinery, and perform preventative maintenance tasks.
• Maintain facility temperatures and ensure compliance with safety certifications and inspections.

Position Summary: Operates and maintains the ammonia refrigeration system:

• Repairs and maintains spiral freezers, air units, boilers, compressors, CO2 system, air pressure, chilled water and plant temperatures
• Troubleshoots inoperable or malfunctioning machinery and supporting equipment to detect root cause
  • Listens for unusual sounds
  • Feels for unusual vibration
  • Communicates with users regarding what was observed or smelled
• Dismantles inoperable or malfunctioning machinery and supporting equipment, installs new or repaired parts and reassembles the machinery or supporting equipment
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of the machinery and supporting equipment as part of the Preventative Maintenance Program
• Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment
• Monitors facility temperatures and makes adjustments as necessary
• Must be able to attain and maintain required certification for the HAZMAT entry team
• Must be able to attain and maintain a boiler license and complete document OSHA checks of internal boilers
• Other duties as assigned
