Job summary

Hussmann Corporation is seeking skilled HVAC/R Technicians to maintain and repair refrigeration systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities. The role emphasizes hands-on training, safety, and strong customer relations.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for HVAC-R technical schooling. External candidates should have 5 years of field experience or 3 years with certification; internal candidates need 1 year as a Qualified Technician

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• HVAC-R Technical School degree preferred.
• External candidates: 5 years field experience or 3 years with technical school certification.
• Internal candidates: 1 year as a Qualified Technician with on-the-job training and skills assessment.

Responsibilities

• Perform prescribed, routine maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained merchandisers.
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration, heating and air-conditioning systems with guidance from a Master/Lead Technician.
• Carry out preventative maintenance including compressor changes, leak searches and coil cleaning.
• Identify and repair leaks, replace motors, and install components as needed.
• Complete work tickets and invoicing; use handheld computer for documentation.
• Maintain truck inventory and follow vehicle maintenance guidelines.
• Develop customer relations and explain equipment issues clearly.
• Understand basic electrical schematics (volts, amps, ohms).
• Handle TEV troubleshooting and replacement; knowledge of subcool and superheat concepts.
• Safely handle R290 and other hazardous materials.
• Additional duties as assigned.
