JOB SUMMARY

The job holder reports directly to the Clear Lake I/E/A Maintenance Manager. The person has routine, direct interaction with the Operations Technical Advisor(s), Operators, Maintenance Planners, Maintenance Coordinators, Reliability Team, and HES.

The job holder will have responsibility to perform the maintenance and reliability of all plant refrigeration equipment:

  • 3 process chillers in the Glacial I and Glacial II operating units [2 - 1500ton, 1 - 800ton].
  • 5 absorption refrigeration units designed to cool the plant refrigerated water system [5 - 1000ton].
  • Approximately 48 comfort cooling systems ranging in size from small window units to building HVAC.
  • Approximately 21 small miscellaneous items - refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, water coolers.

The job holder will interface with the appropriate resources to resolve, improve, and implement maintenance activities in a safe, responsible, and environmentally sound manner which is in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and maintain the plant mechanical and absorption refrigeration systems. (30%)
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance Teams to address maintenance activities for the plant refrigeration systems within their prioritization order.
  • Work with Operations to ensure proper and timely preparation (RTM) of the plant refrigeration systems for maintenance repairs.
  • Work with Operations to resolve production limitations due to the plant refrigeration systems.
  • Train and develop Operations personnel on the operation of mechanical and absorption refrigeration systems.
  • Ensure all compliance tasks are completed on time and in accordance with regulation, policy and/or procedure.
  • Compliance with the EPA rules on Refrigerant under the Clean Air Act under section 608 and all amendments.
  • Make recommendations to Maintenance and Operations teams on potential improvements to be made within the refrigeration systems which could increase reliability and decrease down time.
  • Monitor and maintain the plant comfort cooling systems. (20%)
  • Monitor and maintain the plant miscellaneous refrigeration equipment. (10%)
  • Ensure proper preventative maintenance is performed on the plant refrigeration systems. (30%)
  • Collect routine refrigerant, oil, and lithium bromide samples and ensure required analyses are completed.
  • Ensure proper chemical treatment of the absorption refrigeration systems.
  • Complete necessary PMs in accordance with site procedures in an effective and timely manner.
  • As requested by supervision, complete assignments which support the success of the Clear Lake Plant. (10%)

The duties of this position are conducted with the following considerations:

  • Equipment capabilities - Mechanical integrity deficiencies and required inspections.
  • Production and Maintenance workforce availability and capability.
  • Impact of process changes on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.
  • Understands and Supports the Clear Lake Facility Acrylic Monomers HSE2Q Commitment.

The job holder will be located at the Clear Lake Plant and will have office space in the Esters control room. As the plant need arises, the person will be required to work overtime. The employee will be required to go on call, upon completion of necessary steps of their skill progression. Individual must be able to communicate on multiple levels of the organization and manage multiple tasks.

Minimum years of Experience

  • Recommended minimum 5 years experience with operations and maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems (absorption and refrigerant).

Education and area of focus

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Certifications/Trainings

  • Must have or be able to obtain refrigerant EPA certifications.
