Base pay range
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Referral Specialist to join our behavioral health/mental health agency. The Referral Specialist will be responsible for coordinating client referrals, ensuring a smooth intake process, and facilitating communication between clients, providers, and external agencies. This role is essential in helping individuals access the appropriate mental health services and resources they need.
Job Overview:
- Process incoming and outgoing client referrals in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with the agencies to ensure clients receive appropriate services.
- Verify client eligibility, insurance, and necessary documentation for services.
- Maintain accurate and uptodate records in the referral management system.
- Communicate effectively with clients to schedule appointments and provide necessary information.
- Follow up on referrals to ensure successful service connection and client engagement.
- Identify barriers to care and assist clients in overcoming obstacles to accessing services.
- Adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health, mental health, healthcare administration, or a similar field is a plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and referral management systems is preferred.
- Understanding of insurance verification and community resources is a plus.
