Job summary

UNC Health Care in Lumberton, NC is seeking an administrative scheduling professional to manage referrals across physician, hospital, and outpatient settings. You'll coordinate patient appointments, obtain insurance authorization, and guide on coverage while upholding privacy and HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required; higher-level degree may satisfy.
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with diagnostic and surgical service areas, physician offices and hospitals to ensure timeliness, accuracy and completeness when scheduling patient appointments, tests and procedures.
  • Provides accurate patient information including demographics and medical information for scheduling to ensure patient safety and quality care.
  • Obtains accurate and valid physician or advanced practitioner orders for all appointments, tests and procedures.
  • Communicates appointment, test, procedure information and prep to patient and/or family; adheres to privacy, compliance and HIPPA regulations.
  • Ensure patient has follow-up appointment with the physician to discuss outcomes, as appropriate.
  • Document date and time of appointment, tests, scan or procedure in the patient's medical record; communicate to practice staff.
