Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Referral Management Specialist I to serve as the initial contact for referrals and to schedule appointments across multiple specialties in a call center environment utilizing an automated scheduling system.

Under supervision, the role triages patient calls, answers questions, resolves issues and collects accurate demographic, insurance, and contact data to support efficient clinic operations and revenue cycle while delivering excellent customer

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a medical office, call center, patient access area, or customer service in a business environment.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced call center environment.
• Typing speed of 35 CWPM required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial contact for individuals and referring physicians seeking access and referral information.
• Triages patient calls according to established algorithms and refers to appropriate clinical teams.
• Schedules appointments for multiple specialties and primary care physicians using automated scheduling systems.
• Collects demographic, physician, insurance, employment, next of kin, emergency contacts and other information for patient records; supports clinic operations and revenue cycle.
