The role focuses on coordinating referrals, obtaining authorizations, educating patients and staff, and maintaining accurate records within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with insurance referrals, prior authorization or other relevant medical office experience.

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a customer-focused Referral Coordinator to serve as a key connection between patients and their healthcare team. In this role, you'll provide exceptional service by handling all aspects of the referral process, including authorizations and follow-up.

What You’ll Do:

• Contact insurance companies and obtains authorization for specific plans.
• Educate patients and staff with pertinent referral and insurance information.
• Obtains urgent authorizations same day and next day.
• Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments.
• Answer questions, route calls appropriately, and relay messages to clinical staff.
• Verify patient registration and insurance information.
• Support referrals, authorizations, and patient outreach activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
• Test tracks the referrals until fulfilled by the patient.

General Requirements:

• EDUCATION: High School Diploma
• CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: None
• MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years’ experience with insurance referrals, prior authorization or other relevant medical office experience.
