Job Summary

We are looking for a highly organized and customer-focused Referral Coordinator to join our billing team. The Referral Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring smooth and efficient coordination of patient referrals to our healthcare providers. This position serves as a key liaison between patients, providers, and external offices, helping to facilitate timely care and maintain continuity of services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and process all incoming patient referrals in a timely manner.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorizations or pre-certifications.
  • Communicate with patients regarding referral status, appointments, and instructions.
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and office staff to gather necessary documentation for referrals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Follow up with referral providers to confirm appointment scheduling and receipt of medical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare privacy regulations.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to care coordination as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or healthcare-related certification preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting, preferably in referrals or patient coordination.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes.
