Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator in the Hampton, VA area to serve as the link among patients, primary care, specialists, and insurers. The role coordinates referrals and pre-authorizations, ensuring timely access to medications and services as ordered by providers.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, at least one year of insurance verification experience, and strong computer and organizational skills, with EPIC familiarity a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent ( required )
• One year of experience with Health Insurance Plans
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third party payers
• Knowledge of EPIC preferred
• Medical terminology preferred
• Proficient in use of computers and excellent organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Provides a direct link between patients, primary care providers, specialty providers, and insurance companies.
• Coordinates referral process from primary care providers as well as pre-authorization approvals for drugs and other services as ordered by provider.
