Job summary

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is seeking a Referral Coordinator to obtain and process physician orders and referrals, ensuring accurate clinical documentation for care delivery, including specialty and outpatient referrals.

The role also conducts online insurance eligibility verification, secures pre-certification/authorization, performs referral clearance, and provides financial education on designated cases, communicating with patients, specialists, and referring providers as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 0–6 months of work experience in healthcare coordination or similar.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly with patients, families and providers.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and process signed physician orders/referrals to ensure accurate clinical documentation for care delivery and referrals to specialty and outpatient ancillary services.
• Conduct online insurance eligibility/benefit verification.
• Obtain pre-certification/authorization and referral clearance.
• Provide financial education on designated cases.
• Notify patient/guarantor, specialist, referring provider, etc., with pertinent information.
