Job summary

Suffolk library seeks a professional to provide reference interviews, research, and bibliographic instruction. You will promote our collection and services through classes and programs, and support staff and volunteers.

The role requires knowledge of library procedures, OPAC, and experience with cataloging and circulation. A valid driver’s license is required and duties include maintaining safety and coordinating events.

Qualifications

• 5 years of library or related customer service experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Familiarity with OPAC and library systems
• Ability to instruct patrons in using library resources
• Ability to plan and coordinate programs

Responsibilities

• Conduct reference interviews and research to meet information needs
• Instruct users in catalog and electronic resources
• Maintain library catalog and collection; process materials for rotation
• Prepare reports on service levels and usage
• Plan and coordinate classes and events for the public
• Assist in training staff and volunteers
• Ensure safety and security of the facility
• Provide support for staff with bibliographic records and acquisitions
