Reference Assistant (Part-Time) Tinley Park Public Library

The Tinley Park Public library is seeking an energetic, positive, and service-oriented individual to join our Adult Services team. We’re looking for a proactive person who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adapts easily to change, and is comfortable with technology.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include providing friendly, professional reference services, readers’ advisory, and technology assistance. Additionally, this position may teach technology classes.

Job Hours

Part-time position with fixed working hours as follows:

• Monday: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.


• Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.


• Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Weekend rotation of two (2) Saturdays and one (1) Sunday per month:

• Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.


• Sunday: 11:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

• 2 years library experience preferred.


• An ability to collaborate and to deal courteously and diplomatically with patrons and colleagues and to remain calm in difficult situations.


• Applicant should be proficient in using and assisting patrons with a variety of current technologies such as web and database searching, and social media.


• Proficiency with iOS and Android devices preferred.

Pay Range

$18.92 – $20.10 per hour
