Poplar Creek Public Library District in Streamwood, IL is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support public service desks with basic research, readers’ advisory, and technology assistance. The role includes program development and representing the library at events outside the building.
Responsibilities cover helping patrons with catalogs, self-checkout, databases, e-readers, and tablets; planning classes; maintaining displays; and preparing bibliographies or reports as needed.
CLASSIFICATION: Part-time; non-exempt; 25 hours/week
FULL SALARY RANGE: $19.08/hr - $28.62/hr
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $19.08/hr - $23.85/hr

Fulfills responsibilities at public desks providing basic research, readers’ advisory and computer assistance. Provides programing as needed. Performs responsibilities professionally and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Library District. May represent the library at events outside the library.
LTA, bachelor's degree (4-year degree), or equivalent relevant professional experience required.
Minimum of 3 years related experience in a public library preferred.

Physical requirements include: speaking, hearing, vision and keyboarding ability sufficient to adequately perform the job, and the ability to push and pull up to 200 pounds and lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
Work is performed in a typical library environment. Will require some weekend and evening work. Must have valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance or have the ability to arrange own transportation in order to work required schedule.
