Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas seeks an Employment Placement Specialist to support residents’ employment needs and act as a job service liaison within the program. The role includes networking with local business leaders, securing commitments to employ residents, facilitating placements and providing follow-up.

The position also involves vocational training assistance, individual and group counseling, and post-release follow-up related to employment with the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 years of job development/placement experience.
• Associate’s degree with 3 years of related experience offered as substitution.
• Ability to build effective relationships with offenders, service agencies and the public.

Responsibilities

• Assess offenders' employment, vocational and educational needs.
• Develop and coordinate community resources for job opportunities.
• Serve as liaison to local businesses and employers.
• Participate in intake, screening and assessment procedures.
• Maintain offender and service records per procedures.
• Provide training on dress and interview techniques.
• Assist offenders in obtaining and maintaining employment.
• Visit job sites to support offenders and employers.
• Prepare weekly program reports and update records.
