Job summary

Volunteers of America Minnesota is seeking an Employment Placement Specialist to provide direct resident services, including employment counseling, job development, and placement, with a focus on removing barriers and preparing residents for work. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday 8:00am–4:00pm with occasional late evenings, at VOA locations in Minneapolis and Roseville.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with correctional clientele preferred.
• Understanding of employment preparation, development, placement and job retention.
• Understanding of assessment tools addressing employment readiness and behavioral issues.
• Knowledge of community resources and ability to build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Interview and advise residents to assess employability and readiness for job referral.
• Identify barriers and coordinate referrals to community resources.
• Collaborate with Case Managers to develop IPP addressing employment issues.
• Provide job placement resources in RRC and community settings.
• Teach portfolio development, resume writing and interview techniques.
• Offer individual and group counseling and follow-up on employment goals.
