Mendon Truck Leasing and Rental is a full-service leasing and rental company and a part of PETIT FORESTIER GROUP. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Reefer Mechanic for diesel trucks to join our team.

This is a full time 447 Union Job.

Responsibilities: As a Reefer Mechanic for diesel trucks, you will be responsible for the following:

• Perform diagnosis and repair of any breakdown in refrigeration systems for trucks and trailers.
• Conduct engine repair and rebuilding, including diesel and gasoline engines.
• Perform repair to transmissions, driveline, and differentials.
• Possess knowledge of and perform repairs to engine accessory components.
• Conduct tune-ups using established procedures.
• Demonstrate proficiency in repairing steering, suspension, brake systems, frame, axle, electrical, hydraulic, and refrigeration systems.
• Read written and oral job orders, communicate orally, and document in writing regarding malfunctions, damage, repairs, parts, and preventative maintenance required.
• Work with limited or no supervision and possess the ability to instruct mechanics in lower grades and assist them in completing repair assignments.
• Perform road service as needed.
• Other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated ability and experience in diesel-mechanical diagnosis and repair of responsibilities detailed above.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-Secondary Degree, Technical Certification, or Vocational Certification is .
• Basic tools required.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of computers to operate diagnostic test equipment and company software programs proficiently.
• This position requires driving company vehicles.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire.

Working Conditions: This position involves working in a shop, office, yards, and vehicle environment. It may require lifting of 50 to 75 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday 1:30 PM to 10 PM
Compensation: Hourly $33.54-$36.29
Location: Bronx, NY & Newark, NJ
