Job summary

Rail Modal Group in Fremont, Nebraska is seeking a Reefer Technician to join the Maintenance and Repair team. You will maintain and repair generator sets and refrigeration containers, perform pre-trips, and assist with training new hires to keep cargo moving safely and on schedule.

This role emphasizes teamwork, hands-on problem-solving, and adherence to safety rules while documenting repairs and coordinating with the Refrigeration Superintendent.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience with HVAC or Refrigeration maintenance preferred.
• Excellent team player with strong communication skills.
• Desire to learn and grow technical skills from experienced mechanics.
• Experience placing work orders and maintaining a parts inventory.
• Ability to generate reports and work across software systems.

Responsibilities

• Assess, document, and fix equipment including generator sets and refrigeration containers.
• Perform pre-trips on containers and generator sets.
• Perform routine checks to prevent equipment failures.
• Adjust and replace faulty parts to ensure equipment function and safety.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and standards.
• Maintain daily records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections.
• Report priorities and work plan to Refrigeration Superintendent.
• Perform daily housekeeping and preventative maintenance tasks.
