Job summary

Republic Services in Springfield, MO is seeking a Sorter to safely and efficiently sort incoming recyclable materials for sale to brokers or mills. You will sort by material type, deposit materials into the correct chute, and support team members as needed.

You will follow all safety policies, inspect loads for unacceptable items, communicate with operators, and perform other duties as assigned to maintain smooth operation of the recycling line.

Qualifications

• Experience sorting recyclable materials in a recycling facility.

Responsibilities

• Sort and segregate recoverable materials from incoming waste.
• Deposit recoverable materials into appropriate chute.
• Assist other sorters on an as-needed basis with heavy or bulky items.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including stopping the conveyor belt in emergency situations.
• Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste; remove unacceptable items as required.
• Communicate with equipment operators regarding incoming loads of special waste or other loads that require special attention.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
