Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center's Student Health Services on campus provides primary care exclusively for TTU students. This fast-paced, team‑oriented clinic emphasizes compassionate, high‑quality care where patients come first.

The PA/NP role delivers direct patient care under supervision, collects histories, performs exams, orders tests, and develops care plans while counseling patients on diagnoses and treatment adherence.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited PA or NP program and TX licensure or transfer capability.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Texas (or eligible).

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care under supervision of a staff Physician or Medical Director.
  • Elicits detailed patient histories.
  • Performs physical examinations and compiles medical data.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and lab results.
  • Performs procedures such as injections, suturing, wound care, and drainage.
  • Develops patient management plans and documents progress.
  • Educates patients on diagnosis, treatment adherence, and health maintenance.
  • May render emergency medical care when needed to avoid disability or death.

Student Health Services at Texas Tech University is an on‑campus medical care clinic exclusively for Texas Tech students. The mission of Student Health Services is to proudly provide compassionate, high‑quality, and accessible healthcare to Texas Tech students. This primary care clinic is an exciting place to work. It is a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment where patients always come first.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Provides patient care services under direct supervision and responsibility of a staff Physician and/or Medical Director.
  • Elicit detailed patient histories
  • Performs thorough physical examinations and compiling patients’ medical data, including health histories and results of physical examinations.
  • Orders diagnostic tests, such as X-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interpreting test results for deviations from normal.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, suturing and wound care, and incision & drainage of abscesses.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes promptly, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding the diagnosis and compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, mental health concerns, and health maintenance.
Occasional Duties
  • May render emergency medical service without supervision, pending the arrival of a responsible physician, in cases where immediate diagnosis and treatment are necessary to avoid disability or death.
Required Qualifications

Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing care in an urgent and/or primary care setting, strong interest in providing care for college students.
