Job description

A leading global alternative investment firm is seeking an experienced Recruiter to join its Talent Acquisition team, with a primary focus on hiring across front office functions.

This individual will serve as a strategic recruiting partner to investment leaders across the organization, managing searches for highly specialized talent within some of the most competitive areas of the financial markets. The Recruiter will be expected to develop a sophisticated understanding of the teams and strategies they support, translate complex hiring needs into thoughtful search strategies, and build relationships with exceptional talent across the quantitative and trading landscape.

A critical component of the role will be talent mapping and market intelligence. This individual will proactively map relevant talent pools, firms, teams, and strategies to develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and build pipelines well ahead of immediate hiring needs.

The ideal candidate combines strong recruiting execution with intellectual curiosity, commercial judgment, and the ability to establish credibility with senior investment professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting across quantitative, trading, and investment-related functions, from initial search strategy through offer and close.

  • Partner closely with Portfolio Managers, investment leaders, and other senior stakeholders to understand team objectives, investment strategies, and highly specialized talent requirements.

  • Lead proactive talent mapping initiatives, identifying relevant firms, teams, strategies, and individual talent to support current and future hiring priorities.

  • Develop and maintain detailed market maps and talent pipelines, leveraging research and market intelligence to provide visibility into competitor organizations and key talent pools.

  • Develop thoughtful, research-driven sourcing strategies to identify exceptional talent.

  • Proactively identify and cultivate relationships with high-caliber passive candidates, including individuals who may not be actively considering a move.

  • Develop a nuanced understanding of candidate backgrounds, including academic credentials, technical expertise, investment experience, strategy exposure, and career trajectory.

  • Conduct sophisticated candidate assessments, evaluating experience, technical alignment, motivations, judgment, communication style, and long-term fit.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to hiring managers, providing insight into talent availability, competitive dynamics, compensation considerations, organizational structures, and broader market trends.

  • Manage complex interview processes with a high degree of organization, discretion, and attention to detail.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders on offer strategy, candidate closing, and other aspects of the hiring process.

  • Maintain disciplined and accurate recruiting data while leveraging market intelligence to inform broader talent strategies.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of recruiting experience within a hedge fund or working exclusively with hedge fund clients

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting within quantitative research, quantitative development, trading, investment, or closely related technical disciplines.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting talent mapping and market-mapping exercises within highly competitive or specialized talent markets.

  • Proven ability to research and map competitor organizations, identify relevant teams and talent populations, and translate that intelligence into actionable recruiting strategies.

  • Strong understanding of—or demonstrated ability to quickly develop expertise in—the quantitative and systematic investment talent landscape.

  • Proven ability to identify, engage, and build relationships with highly sought-after passive talent.

  • Experience partnering directly with senior, highly discerning stakeholders and managing searches with complex or highly specific requirements.

  • Strong research and sourcing capabilities, with an ability to uncover talent beyond traditional candidate channels.

  • Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in financial markets, investment strategies, and the evolving quantitative talent landscape.

  • Excellent judgment and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • Highly polished written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority searches in a fast-moving environment.
