Job summary

Caltech invites applications for a Recreation Manager who reports to the Director of Athletics, Recreation and Instruction. The role leads the recreation program focused on members, class scheduling, facility coordination, and cross-department collaboration within the Caltech community.

Responsibilities include membership administration, teaching up to 2 fitness classes per week, supervising staff, and coordinating with campus partners to advance health and wellness initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3 years of experience in recreation management.
• Experience with Innosoft/Fusion Membership software.
• Ability and willingness to serve as a positive health and fitness role model for the community.
• Strong general computer and database management skills.
• Strong supervisory skills and awareness of legal/ethical management responsibilities.
• Proven ability to multi-task effectively and work independently within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and administer the membership database, manage fees, invoicing, records, and reporting; train staff on the system.
• Lead the group fitness program with ~26 classes per week, schedule classes and facilities, supervise ~12 staff, and teach up to 2 classes.
• Coordinate with Athletics Operations & Community Manager and Assistant Facilities Manager on facility supervision.
• Collaborate across Athletics, Recreation, and Physical Education/Instruction for integrated planning, scheduling, and community engagement.
• Coordinate Student Club Sports and Interhouse Sports with campus partners.
• Assist Director and partners in programming for health and wellness initiatives.
• Other duties: teach up to 1 PE course/term; participate in committees; other duties as assigned.
