Job summary

Parkwood Behavioral Health System (a UHS facility) is seeking a Recreation Therapist for a full-time, weekday schedule, 10:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., serving adults, adolescents and children with leisure and recreational development needs.

The role emphasizes age-appropriate therapy groups and behavioral goals aligned with the program. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor Degree in Recreation Therapy or related field; one year psychiatric experience is preferred; CTRS certification is a plus.

Parkwood Behavioral Health System provides behavioral health and chemical dependency services to the Mid-South region and has been in business since 1987. We are located in Desoto County, in the northwest corner of Mississippi and approximately 7 miles south of Memphis.

We offer a full continuum of care that provides treatment options to meet the individual needs of adults, adolescents and children. Recreation Therapist

Full-time

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor Degree in Recreation Therapy, or other human services field.

Experience:

One year prior psychiatric experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

CTRS preferred.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of individual, group and family therapy theory and practice, group leadership skills, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.
