Job summary

St. James Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in New York is seeking a qualified Recreation Therapist to join our growing team and enhance residents' quality of life through therapeutic recreation.

You will plan and conduct group and individual programs, document attendance, and assist residents to participate, while collaborating with the care plan team to set goals. Experience with frail or elderly populations and strong communication skills are required; TRS certification is a plus; full-time

Qualifications

• Experience working with frail or elderly population.
• Experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services.
• Working knowledge of physical, psychosocial and behavioral needs of the elderly population.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct group and individual recreation programs as assigned by the Director of Recreation.
• Document program attendance and participation.
• Facilitate independent activities for residents.
• Assist residents to and from recreation programs.
• Work as part of the care plan team in determining therapeutic objectives and goals.
• Create patient specific care plans.
• Other duties as required.

• Responsible for documenting program attendance and participation
• Facilitate independent activities for residents
• Assist residents to and from recreation programs
• All other tasks as assigned by the Director of Recreation
• Work as part of the care plan team in determining therapeutic objectives and goals.
• Create patient specific care plans
• Other duties as required

Recreation Therapist Qualifications/Requirements

• Experience working with the frail or elderly population.
• Experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services.
• Working knowledge of physical, psychosocial and behavioral needs of the elderly population.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is a plus
