Job summary

St. James Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our growing team in New York.

The role involves planning and conducting group and individual recreation programs for residents, documenting attendance, and facilitating activities to support overall care plans. Responsibilities include coordinating with the Director of Recreation, creating patient-specific care plans, and assisting residents to participate in programs.

Qualifications

• Experience with frail or elderly population required.
• Experience in social or recreational programs.
• Knowledge of physical, psychosocial and behavioral needs of the elderly.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• TRS certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct group and individual recreation programs.
• Document program attendance and participation.

Recreation Therapist Job Description:

• Responsible for planning and conducting group and individual recreation programs as assigned by the Director of Recreation
• Responsible for documenting program attendance and participation
• Facilitate independent activities for residents
• Assist residents to and from recreation programs
• All other tasks as assigned by the Director of Recreation
• Work as part of the care plan team in determining therapeutic objectives and goals.
• Create patient specific care plans
• Other duties as required

Recreation Therapist Qualifications/Requirements:

• Experience working with the frail or elderly population.
• Experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services.
• Working knowledge of physical, psychosocial and behavioral needs of the elderly population.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is a plus

Shift Needs: Full Time and Per Diem

Pay Rate: $17 an hour
