Job summary

St. James Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our growing team.

The Recreation Therapist will plan and conduct group and individual recreation programs, document attendance, facilitate activities for residents, and assist with transport to programs. The role requires collaboration with the care plan team to determine therapeutic objectives and goals, and to create patient-specific care plans.

Qualifications

• Experience working with frail or elderly population.
• Experience in social or recreational program coordinating services.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct group and individual recreation programs as assigned by the Director of Recreation.
• Document program attendance and participation.
• Facilitate independent activities for residents.
• Assist residents to and from recreation programs.
• Work as part of the care plan team to determine therapeutic objectives and goals.
• Create patient-specific care plans.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Responsible for planning and conducting group and individual recreation programs as assigned by the Director of Recreation
• Responsible for documenting program attendance and participation
• Facilitate independent activities for residents
• Assist residents to and from recreation programs
• All other tasks as assigned by the Director of Recreation
• Work as part of the care plan team in determining therapeutic objectives and goals.
• Create patient specific care plans
• Other duties as required

Recreation Therapist Qualifications/Requirements:

• Experience working with the frail or elderly population.
• Experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services.
• Working knowledge of physical, psychosocial and behavioral needs of the elderly population.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is a plus
