Job summary

The City of Eagan is seeking two Recreation Site Coordinators to support winter rink operations and on-site supervision at outdoor facilities. You will assist with rink supervision, staff coordination, and providing excellent customer service in a dynamic, outdoor environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with rink attendants, resolving staffing and facility needs, traveling between sites, and ensuring safe, efficient operation of warming houses and rinks during the winter season.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of work experience in recreation or related field

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervision of sites by supporting rink attendants to ensure safe and orderly operation

Recreation Site Coordinator – Winter Rinks

Pay: $18.392 per hour
Temporary/Seasonal, Non-Exempt, Not Benefit Eligible

Join Team Eagan! We're looking for two positive and motivated Recreation Site Coordinators to assist with program support and on-site supervision for the outdoor winter facilities.

Applicants should enjoy working outdoors and have excellent customer service skills. Must be able to attend training on Thursday, November 5 and be available to work on assigned holidays (Friday after Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, MLK Day, President’s Day). Hours will consist of weekends, weeknights, no-school days, and holidays. This position will work an average of 15-20 hours per week, mid-November through mid-March, depending on winter weather conditions.

Winter Rink Operation Dates:

Goat Hill: Monday, November 23, 2026 – Sunday, March 14, 2027
Other sites: Friday, December 18, 2026 – Monday, February 14, 2027

• Assist with supervision of sites by supporting rink attendants in ensuring rinks and warming houses are being operated in a safe and orderly manner
• Determine appropriate responses regarding staffing, facility needs, and issues as initial point of contact for warming house staff
• Troubleshoot unexpected staffing shortages by filling in at sites and seeking replacement staff
• Travel to different sites throughout the city to check-in on staffed rinks and unstaffed rinks in a city vehicle
• Effectively communicate with staff, Recreation Specialist, Recreation Programmer, and Recreation Supervisor
• Immediate decision making relating to behavior and weather concerns
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Work with diverse (culturally, socio-economic, age, etc.) populations in the community
• Ability to relate to respectfully enforce site policies
• Assist in any recreational program, activities, and city-wide events as assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Ability to work independently

• 18 years of age or older
• One (1) year of work experience in recreation or related field
• Work experience with increasing leadership and responsibilities
• Valid driver's license
• Must be able to perform all essential position functions under the working conditions as described

• Degree or course work leading to a degree or equivalent experience in Recreation administration or closely related field
• Previous work with winter outdoor facilities

Work Environment: 50% outside, 50% inside

• Winter weather conditions can reach -15 degrees combining temperature and wind chill for extended periods
• Snow and ice must be traversed constantly outdoors
• Exposure to debris and blood borne pathogens
• Park users of all ages attend sites with attendance ranging from zero to several hundred
• Hours of operation include evenings, weekends, holidays, and no-school days
• Cleaning and maintenance include dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and using chemicals
• Travel related to recreation programs using a city vehicle
