Job summary

City of Rochester, NH seeks a versatile recreation & arena assistant to help plan, coordinate, and supervise programs across facilities. This role covers evening and weekend hours at the Main Office or Ice Arena, gymnasium, conference rooms and program spaces.

The incumbent will promote safety, deliver strong customer service, and represent the city professionally. CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required or obtainable, with potential for career growth within Parks & Recreation.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• One year of college preferred.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a healthy, safe, and fun environment for patrons.
• Serves as an ambassador and customer service representative for the department and the City of Rochester.
• Assists recreation and/or arena facility customers in person and via telephone.
• Open and/or closes recreation or arena facility space based on the daily schedule.
• Processes electronic program registrations and payments.
• Responsible for implementing discipline policies.
• Facilitates and implements activities for patrons.
• Assists with coordinating program participants and volunteers.
• Follows departmental policies and procedures.
• Responsible for enforcing rules and regulations.
• Communicates with patrons, providing updates where required and answering questions about programming.
• Administers first aid, CPR/AED, when necessary.
• Completes incident reports as necessary.
• Reports any issues to Assistant Director, Recreations Supervisor or Facilities and Operations Supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.
