Job summary

The City of Mesa is seeking part-time, non-benefited Recreation Specialists for the fall season and year-round opportunities. You will independently develop and supervise specialized programs for target populations, planning, promoting, operating, and managing activity areas or facilities.

Duties include supervising part-time staff and volunteers as needed. Assignments span Adaptive, Aquatics, Athletics, Recreation Centers, Special Events, and more, with flexible hours including weekends.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or two years of college coursework.
• 1–3 years of recreation experience.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and supervise specialized programs for target populations or interest groups.
• Plan, organize, develop, maintain, promote, operate and manage a recreation area or facility.
• Possibly supervise part-time staff, temporary workers, volunteers and affiliated group activities.
• Work in accordance with departmental rules, regulations and safety practices.
• Assignments may include Adaptive, Aquatics, Athletics, Cashier, Fun’n’Fitness, Out-of-Schooltime Camps, Recreation Centers, Reservation/Registration, Special Events, Summer Recreation, or Tennis Center.

Education

Associate's Degree or two years of college coursework
