Job summary

PenMet Parks in Gig Harbor, WA seeks a Recreation Specialist to support camps, classes, and programs for youth, teens, adults, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. This full-time role partners with the Recreation Services team to deliver diverse activities, events, and inclusive opportunities.

You will assist with planning, coordinate, supervise staff and volunteers, manage equipment on a budget, and communicate with participants and families about registration and fees.

Qualifications

• One year working with youth in a recreation setting.
• Bachelor's degree in recreation, early childhood education, psychology, or related field.
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, blood borne pathogens, and AED (or obtained within 90 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, implementation, and coordination of recreational activities and events.
• Develop programs that promote inclusion, equity, and safety for all participants.
• Communicate with participants, families, and community agencies about needs and registration.
• Select, purchase, and maintain equipment within budget.
• Provide on-site leadership and instruction to program participants.
• Supervise volunteers, staff, and participants to meet program needs.
