Job summary

Goochland County is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to support coordination and execution of recreation programs, events, and operations. This 5–20 hour per week permanent position requires evenings and weekends, with no benefits.

Responsibilities include assisting the Recreation Division, coordinating facility activities, opening/closing facilities, ensuring safety and cleanliness, processing registrations, and providing after-hours administrative support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of customer service and/or program assistance experience preferred.
• Valid State of Virginia Driver’s License with driving record meeting HR policy.
• Background check and pre-employment drug screen required.
• Must be eighteen (18) years of age.

Responsibilities

• Open and close recreation facilities; ensure safety during activities and open hours.
• Provide general assistance to the Recreation Division and assist with public relations for department programs.
• Coordinate activities across recreation facility sites and monitor instruction.
• Process registrations and maintain facility cleanliness before and after programs.
• Travel to sites to ensure availability of equipment and facilities; report incidents as needed.
• Provide after-hours administrative support to Recreation Division after 5pm.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
