Recreation Program Assistant (Sports Site)

Part‑time as Needed

Starting Hourly Salary: $15.77

We are seeking a dedicated Recreation Program Assistant to join our Parks and Recreation team. This role involves overseeing program facilities and sports activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for participants.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up fields and facilities for games and practices
• Communicate with parents and coaches, distribute updated schedules, and address questions and concerns
• Maintain a safe and fun environment for players, spectators, and coaches
• Inspect equipment for safety and ensure proper use of facilities
• Operate equipment safely and report unsafe conditions to the supervisor
• Report accidents, incidents, and disciplinary actions to the supervisor
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting patrons and answering questions
• Communicate with staff and public safety officials during emergencies
• Maintain equipment inventories and request orders as needed
• Interact professionally and courteously with supervisors, staff, and the public
• Perform general custodial work and maintain organized and clean workspaces
• Report public hazards to the immediate supervisor
• Attend department meetings as required
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Available to work weekday evenings and Saturdays
• General knowledge of sports and game day events is a plus
• Must attend mandatory training sessions

Special Requirements

• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Valid driver’s license issued by the state
• Background and driving record check required

• Understanding of departmental methods, procedures, and policies
• Knowledge of relevant laws, ordinances, and regulations
• Ability to organize work around broad organizational goals
• Effective communication and regular reporting to supervisors
• Capable of overseeing complex program development
• Ability to implement policies and procedures for successful operations

Physical Demands

• Ability to exert moderate physical effort for medium work
• Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy objects up to 50 pounds frequently
• Requires a range of physical activities including balancing, climbing, and kneeling
