City of Folsom is seeking CAVE Staff Recreation Leaders to support the Community & Cultural Services Division by running afterschool activities for middle school students.

Under Recreation Coordinators and Site Leads, you will facilitate arts, sports, games, drama, music, and homework help, while ensuring a safe, engaging program environment. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with hours after school and occasional meetings.

The Folsom Parks & Recreation Department is currently recruiting for multiple CAVE Staff Recreation Leaders to join the Community & Cultural Services Division

Under the direction of Recreation Coordinators and CAVE Site Leads, the Recreation Leader will facilitate daily afterschool activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, drama, music, homework help and other activities

Schedule
  • Staff may be scheduled within the following hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 3:00pm - 5:30pm, Thursday 1:30pm - 5:30pm
  • Additional hours outside of programming may be required for meetings or early dismissal days
Pay & Benefits
  • Non-exempt, hourly, part-time
  • Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class

Education

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, G.E.D. or work permit. Some college education is preferred

Experience

Previous experience working with school-age children and/or summer camps preferred

Additional Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age

License, Certificate, Registration Requirements
  • Some positions may require possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • Current standard First Aid and CPR Certification
Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a typical outdoor environment on a year-round basis. (1) Mobility: frequent performance of heavy manual labor, frequent standing, walking, or driving; frequent climbing, reaching, bending, stooping, crawling, and squatting. (2) Lifting: frequent lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds. (3) Vision: constant use of overall vision. (4) Dexterity: frequent grasping, holding, reaching, hand/shoulder/elbow movements. (5) Hearing/Talking: frequent hearing and talking in person. (6) Emotional/Psychological: frequent coworker and public contact; frequent working alone and independent. (7) Environment: frequent exposure to outside elements (sun, wind, rain); loud noise, traffic, fumes, and other environmental substances

Schedule is limited to no more than 999 hours per fiscal year. Temporary, hourly positions are not eligible for benefits
