Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage is seeking an Indoor Recreation Specialist I to lead daily activities at the Spenard Recreation Center. This role provides supervision to participants and volunteers and ensures a welcoming, safe environment for all programs.

Hours vary (30 hours/week) with shifts typically 7am–11pm, and employment ends after approximately six months. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications and obtain required certifications as a condition of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and 3 months experience leading or teaching in recreation settings.
• Must obtain American Red Cross First Aid and CPR within 30 days of hire.
• Background check required per state statutes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily recreations and activities at Spenard Recreation Center.
• Provide excellent customer service in person, by phone, and email.
• Coordinate program participants and volunteers; perform related duties.
