Job summary

Fairbanks North Star Borough Parks & Recreation seeks a Recreation Attendant to ensure safe, orderly operations of our facilities and to assist in set-up, cleanup, and event support. You will monitor activities, enforce safety rules, and provide friendly public service on weekends and evenings.

The role involves handling cash at the point of sale, checking in participants, maintaining locker rooms and ice arena seating, and assisting with program development and staff communication.

Qualifications

• Six months of work experience dealing with the public, operating a personal computer and handling cash.
• Ability to achieve Standard First Aid, Adult CPR, and AED certifications within three months of hire.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Preferred: valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Issue facility drop-in passes and monitor safety rules.
• Provide routine cleanup and maintenance of locker rooms and seating.
• Clean, sharpen, and maintain ice skates and equipment.
• Render emergency first aid to injured users.
• Inspect facilities and report damage.
• Inform participants of facility rules and enforce schedules.
• Check patrons in and out of locker rooms.
• Assist with setup and takedown for events.
• Open and close facilities daily.
• Assist with developing and leading programs at park facilities.
• Perform custodial duties as assigned.
• Operate POS system and process sales and reservations.
