Job summary

Convalescent Center of N. Long Beach is hiring a Recreation Program Director to lead activity and recreation programs for our residents in a long-term care setting.

You will develop, plan, organize and direct programs aligned with state and federal guidelines, focusing on the physical, mental, spiritual and psychosocial well-being of each resident. A current license in Arts/Music/Dance therapy, Recreation Therapy or Occupational Therapy is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active and valid license in one of the eligible therapies or Recreation Therapy.
• At least 2+ years in a social or recreational program with 1 year in a mental/behavioral health setting.
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
• Knowledge of nursing practices and long-term care regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, organize and direct activity/recreation programs per guidelines.
• Ensure programs support residents' physical, mental, spiritual and psychosocial well-being.
• Lead implementation in line with state and federal regulations and company policies.

Salary Range: $33-37 per hour.

As a Recreation Program Director, you will develop, plan, organize and direct the implementation of Activity/Recreation programs in accordance with current state and federal guidelines and regulations, and Company policies and procedures. Programs are designed in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, spiritual and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Must have:

• An active and valid license as an Art Therapist, Music Therapist, Dance Therapist, Recreation Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state OR completed a state approved training course.
• Within the last 5 years, must have 2+ years’ experience in a social or recreational program, with at least 1 year of full-time commitment in mental health/behavioral health setting
• Flexible with the ability to adapt to change
• Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
• Must be able to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the job
• Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices, procedures, terminology, laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care

Nice to have:

• Bachelor's degree from accredited college
• Certification or training in therapeutic recreation
• Supervisory experience
• Previous experience in Skilled Nursing environment
