Job summary

The Town of Garner is seeking a Recreation Customer Service Specialist to support operations at the Garner Recreation Center. You will serve as the primary point of contact for patrons, process memberships and registrations, and assist with center rentals and program support.

Responsibilities include front desk duties, collecting fees, reconciling deposits, maintaining records, and assisting with events and room setups. The role typically runs Tuesday through Saturday with varied hours.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in customer service or administrative work.
• CPR and/or First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Monitors front desk and greets visitors; verifies memberships and provides information.
• Processes memberships and day passes; assists with program registrations and receipts; reconciles cash.
• Monitors facility access and safety; enforces rules and equipment usage policies.
• Schedules rentals and room use; explains policies and fee schedules; handles paperwork.
• Assists in event setup/teardown and theater gym arrangements; ensures correct room layout.
• Responds to patron inquiries; refers complex issues to supervisor as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness of facility spaces; reports maintenance and safety concerns.
• Operates A/V equipment and restocks supplies for programs; trains/assists part-time staff.
