Job description

Overview

Duties include operating and maintaining Skeet & Trap facilities, assigning stations, operating release controllers, renting firearms and selling items in the lodge, and conducting inventories of resale items, ammunition, and firearms. The role also involves supervising safety, instructing participants on proper use of equipment and skeet & trap techniques, and ensuring facilities are properly scheduled, set up, and that rules and regulations are observed. The incumbent may perform general maintenance of facilities and grounds and opens/closes the Skeet & Trap facility as required.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain Skeet & Trap facilities; assign stations; operate release controller; rent firearms and sell lodge items.
  • Conduct inventories of resale items, ammunition, firearms, and facility equipment or other supply items as required.
  • Demonstrate and instruct participants on proper use and safety of equipment; provide guidance on skeet & trap techniques.
  • Inform supervisor of equipment malfunctions and items needing maintenance or repair.
  • Assist in advertising and recruiting participants for special events; encourage patron interest in scheduled skeet & trap events and tournaments.
  • Ensure only authorized patrons use skeet & trap facilities; ensure all sales, fees, and charges are rung up in the point of sale system.
  • Ensure activities are properly scheduled; facilities are set up; and rules and regulations are observed.
  • Open and close the Skeet & Trap facility as required.
  • Perform general tasks related to maintenance of facilities and grounds (e.g., lawnmowing, snow removal) as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • Incumbent must be able to lift 50 pounds and satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical, including an annual audio test.
  • This is a drug testing position; incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have had no convictions of domestic violence; individuals with misdemeanor domestic violence convictions are not eligible.
  • Candidates must certify they have not been convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence offense prior to assuming duties.
  • False or fraudulent information provided by candidates is punishable by law and may result in removal from federal service.
Qualifications

  • Experience with skeet & trap operations, including weapon safety, equipment use and repair, tournament organization, and scorekeeping.
  • Experience handling cash items, including direct handling and use of cash accountability controls.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to deal with the public.
Education and Other Information

Some federal jobs allow education substitution, but this position does not. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet requirements if proven to be at least equivalent to a U.S. education; provide evidence when applying.
