Job summary

The Village of Indian Hill is seeking a dependable Trapper to join the Indian Hill Shooting Club. You will operate trap and skeet machines, help maintain equipment and facilities, and assist with daily operations around the range.

No prior trapping experience is required; training is provided. An interest in shooting sports or outdoor recreation is preferred. This is a part-time role with a pay rate of $13.50–$16.87 per hour, depending on qualifications, including weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Current, valid driver’s license.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Enforces firearms safety protocols on Shooting Club grounds at all times for themselves and the shooters in their charge.
• Understands and follows emergency response plans when required.
• Assists supervisors with the daily opening and closing of the skeet and trap fields.
• Assists in securing Club facilities at the end of daily operations.
• Loads skeet and trap machines with targets as needed and instructed.
• Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of the Shooting Club, including light maintenance and cleaning of skeet, trap and sporting clay machines.
• Provides general care and maintenance of other Shooting Club equipment, buildings and grounds.
• Empties trash receptacles and picks up trash from grounds.
• Cleans restrooms and performs other routine facility-cleaning duties.
• Assists other staff members as needed.
• Provides coaching assistance and support to members as requested and needed.
• Reports to assigned shift 30 minutes prior to the opening of the Club for shooters.
• Attends and participates in training, educational and skill advancement sessions as required.

The Village is looking for a dependable, safety-minded Trapper to join the team at the Indian Hill Shooting Club. This is more than a typical part-time job - you'll work around sporting clay and trap fields, help maintain equipment and facilities, work with club members, gain practical experience, and contribute to the successful daily operation of the Shooting Club. Primary duties include operating trap and skeet shooting machines, ensuring the safety of participants using the rifle and pistol ranges, and assisting with general grounds maintenance.

No prior trapping experience is required, we will train the right candidate. An interest in shooting sports, sporting clays, or outdoor recreation is preferred, and related experience is a plus.

Hourly rate of $13.50 to $16.87, depending on qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of firearms and safe firearms handling practices.
• Shooting experience and knowledge of sporting clay facilities preferred.
• Ability to lift clay targets, target frames, and ammunition boxes.
• Ability to work in an environment having frequent exposure to high noise levels.
• Ability to consistently follow personal safety precautions and established safety rules.
• Demonstrated responsibility, dependability, and effective communication skills.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate club member needs and goals to other team members.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.

Employees must be able to perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and groundskeeping duties and safely operate or work around applicable maintenance equipment.
