Job summary

The City of Round Rock is seeking a Recreation Assistant to support parks and recreation facilities. You will deliver friendly customer service, handle registrations, camp and facility bookings, and assist with events and daily operations.

No prior work experience is required; however, customer service and cash handling skills are preferred. A valid Texas driver’s license is preferred, and shallow water lifeguard certification may be required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• No previous work experience required; customer service and cash handling experience preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.
• Shallow Water Lifeguard Certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service in a fast, friendly, and professional manner.
• Participates in daily operations of assigned facility, including organizing and cleaning public areas; monitor inventory and supplies.
• Responds to information requests, complaints, and issues from the general public.
• Prepares paperwork, rosters, reports, and simple statistics related to daily activities.
• Operate cash register, balance cash drawer, and ensure accurate cash handling and deposits.
• Attend in-service trainings and maintain required certifications.
• Process recreation program registrations, memberships, and facility reservations; perform related bookkeeping tasks.
• Assist with pre-event and post-event activities, setup, decorating, and inventory management.
• Assist with event day operations including cash handling and distribution of beverages and giveaways.
• Perform clerical duties such as data entry, calendar management, and recording information in databases.
