Job summary

City of College Station seeks a Recreation Assistant to supervise activities within the Parks and Recreation Department. Responsibilities include greeting the public, guiding patrons on equipment use, and ensuring safety during indoor and outdoor programs.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, valid Texas driver's license, and ability to work weekends/evenings with minimal supervision. Experience with diverse groups and strong interpersonal skills are desired.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED equivalent, or currently attending high school.
  • Sixteen (16) years of age or older.
  • Texas Driver’s License.
  • Experience working with youth and people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work with only general direction and with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet the public and serve customers.
  • Ensure and instruct patrons in the proper use of all equipment, supplies, and facilities.
  • Provide responsible safety measures and adequate supervision of patrons during indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
  • Inspect all equipment and supplies used daily and report repairs to the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Teach and enforce all rules and regulations of activities, games and/or facility; conduct disciplinary procedures as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Assignments may include directing group activities, maintaining facilities/equipment, or transporting participants as needed.
