Job summary

County of Hawai‘i seeks a recreation supervisor to plan, organize, and conduct a broad range of recreational programs at the Honoka‘a Sports Complex Gym. The role involves coordinating events, supervising staff and volunteers, handling registrations and fees, and preparing reports.

A bachelor’s degree and one year of experience are required, along with a valid Hawaii driver license (Class 3) at time of hire.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (transcript required).
  • One year of experience planning, organizing, and directing recreational programs.
  • Possession of a valid State of Hawai'i Driver License (Class 3) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, schedules, and directs competitive and non-competitive games, contests, arts and crafts activities for various age groups.
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts aquatic recreational programs, special events and instructional water safety classes.
  • Recruits participants and stimulates interest in recreation programs among children and adults.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to staff and volunteers; coordinates with facility personnel.
  • Reviews program proposals, coordinates and prepares reports and attendance statistics.
