Job summary

State of Hawai'i is seeking a Supervisory Recreational Therapist who will plan, organize, and coordinate recreational therapy services in a health institution. The role requires significant direct therapy work and administrative oversight of the program and staff.

You will participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, develop treatment plans, assess patient progress, and perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, special education, psychology or sociology including 12 semester hours in recreation/therapy areas.
• Three years of progressively responsible professional work experience in a recreational therapy program with mixed therapy services.
• At least one year of Specialized Experience comparable to the Recreational Therapist III.
• Substitutions described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements apply.
• Legal authorization to work for the State of Hawaii.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, supervise and coordinate recreational therapy and allied services for a health institution.
• Supervise a small staff and assume full technical/administrative responsibility for the program.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and provide therapeutic recreational treatment plans.
• Observe, evaluate and report on patient condition and progress; perform related duties as assigned.
