Job summary

St Mary Center is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to plan and lead engaging activities for residents in a supportive, friendly environment. The role emphasizes social interaction, individual and group programming, and contributing to a warm, caring atmosphere.

Typical hours are 9am–5pm with every other weekend. A high school diploma and basic computer skills are required; experience with elderly and dementia-care is preferred.

Recreation Aide Responsibilities:

• Assists in planning and executing recreational activities based on the needs and interests of the residents
• Encourages social interaction and communication between the residents through group recreation, and community interaction programs
• Facilitates recreational programs on an individual and group basis
• Provides individual intervention to residents based on personal needs and conditions
• Records resident attendance and participation level at recreation programs, writes progress notes, and attends care plan meetings as necessary
• Assists in the upkeep, storage, and organization of the recreation department supplies
• Assists with admission assessments, MDS, care plans and progress notes
• Ensures that residents receive the highest quality of service in a warm and caring environment which recognizes the individuals' needs and capabilities
• Performs other related job duties as required

Recreation Aide Qualifications:

• High school degree or equivalent
