Job description

Vacancy for multiple aquatic facilities at Hunter Army Airfield, GA. Work must include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Incentives may be paid and may earn up to an extra $1,000 this season.

Duties
  • Complete mandatory certifications within 30 calendar days of employment.
  • Upon completion of mandatory certifications, the incumbent will be noncompetitively reassigned to Recreation Aid (Lifeguard), responsible for lifeguarding guests at an assigned aquatic facility.
  • Position is a training role for a certified lifeguard, working under close supervision with detailed guidance.
Requirements
  • Certain age restrictions: lifeguards under 15 must comply with DOL Child Labor Law.
  • Direct deposit and Social Security Card required.
  • Meet all qualification/eligibility/background requirements for the position.
  • One-year probationary period may be required.
  • Completion of employment verification (E-Verify) and background investigation per AR 215-3.
  • Health assessment documenting good physical health, free from communicable disease.
  • Within 30 days, obtain and maintain certifications: Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED from a nationally recognized agency.
  • All certifications must be kept current.
  • Must be able to swim and participate in lifeguard certifications.
  • Must have good vision (20/40 or better).
  • Must follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Regular exposure to sun, heat and humidity; must be vaccinated for hepatitis B if exposed to infectious disease.
  • May be assigned to irregular duties or special recreational events; work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night duty.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Ability to swim and participate in lifeguard certifications.
Area of Consideration

Open to candidates located within a 50-mile radius of Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, GA. Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included.

Benefits and Incentives

Incentives may be authorized in accordance with AR 672-20 and are not guaranteed. Earn up to $1,000 in cash awards this season for meeting shift-coverage goals.

$500 for working 70% of available shifts through 2 August with no documented conduct or attendance issues.

$500 for working 70% of available weekend shifts from 8 August-1 November with no documented conduct or attendance issues.

Sunday premium pay and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. No foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), or differentials will be paid.
